Club Rules

 

General Fishery Rules

  1. Junior Permit Holders (under 17) need Parents/Guardian's permission to fish the Lake, indicated by signature on their Permit card
  2. Day Ticket Junior Permit Holders under 14 must be accompanied by an adult at Lakeside.
  3. Permit cards cannot be lent or transferred. Permit Holders must carry their cards while fishing and show them upon request
  4. Must have a valid EA Rod Licence. Juniors aged 13-16 also need one (free online). Juniors aged 12 and under do not need a Rod License
  5. Running or holding a match on the Lake requires Directors' permission
  6. No alcohol, illegal substances, or litter allowed. Do not throw bread into the water. Take litter home
  7. No littering — all swims must be kept clean, and all litter must be taken home
  8. No cycling around the lake at any time
  9. Disabled or Restricted Mobility anglers are to use dedicated pegs available
  10. Dogs – Permission to be obtained to allow at the peg. Supervised at all times, all waste to be promptly removed
  11. All nets are to be dipped before or use. Fish must not be held any longer than 6hrs in a keepnet. Nets must be emptied and removed from the water one hour before dark. Landing nets must be of a suitable size for the targeted fish.
  12. A max weight of 40lb in any one net, Carp over 5lb must be returned immediately to the water. If photos are to be taken an Unhooking Mat MUST be used.
  13. Radios can be used in conjunction with an earpiece, so not to disturb other anglers
  14. Pleasure and Match fishing only from numbered pegs
  15. Barbless hooks only. Maximum size 12 (exception for Carp specialist – max. size 6). No braided hook lengths
  16. Only pegs 7, 13 and 33 may fish to the Island
  17. General Permits are strictly Dawn till Dusk, no night fishing.
  18. No tents or Bivvies, however a small day shelter can be used as long as pathways are unobstructed.
  19. A max of 2 rods without exception, and baited hooks must be attended at all times whether in the water or not.
  20. All fish must be returned unharmed to the water.

 

Bait Rules

  1. No artificial baits or lures, live baiting is not allowed at any time.
  2. Only shop purchased boilies are permitted. (branded makes only) Boilies must only be fed by use of stringers or PVA bags.
  3. All seed and nut baits are banned (with exception to sweetcorn, cooked Hemp and Tares)
  4. No bloodworm or Joker
  5. The use of Bait Boats is prohibited.
  6. No pre- baiting.

 

Match Rules

  1. Please take note of General and Bait rules – These are still applicable during matches
  2. Match official decisions are final
  3. Offenders will be disqualified
  4. No pre-baiting is allowed
  5. Match start and stop will be signalled by the match timekeeper
  6. Keepnets to be a min. of 2.0m
  7. All keepnets must be dipped in the tanks provided and strung out behind your peg to dry. Nets must not enter the water until 15 minutes before the start of the match.
  8. Carp over 5lb must be placed in a separate net. No more than 40lb of fish to be held in keepnet at any time.
  9. All matches are to be no longer than 5hrs
  10. An allowance of 15 minutes will be given to land a fish hooked before the signal to stop fishing was given
  11. Unhooking mats must be used when weighing in or photographing catches.

Carp Fishing Rules

  1. Size 6 barbless hooks maximum. Barbless Hooks only (no crimped or de-barbed hooks)
  2. No braided mainlines
  3. Carp cradles or large beanie unhooking mats are mandatory — suitable equipment for safely landing and unhooking large carp is required
  4. No fixed rigs – They must be easy for the fish to eject if the fish becomes snagged. Rig checks may be conducted by bailiffs
  5. No bivvies, however, Day Shelters can be used but pathways must be unobstructed at all times. Bivvies can be used by Night Syndicate members when on a booked-on session.
  6. Respect Others’ Space: Avoid standing or moving abruptly in another angler’s area to prevent scaring fish.
  7. Keep Bite Alarms at Appropriate Levels: Set your alarm volume so it doesn’t disturb others.
  8. Respect Swim Boundaries: Fish only within your designated area, typically extending halfway between adjacent pegs, whether occupied or not, and no further than half way towards an angler pegged opposite.
  9. Polite Interaction: Be considerate when approaching others, especially if they are in a bivvy or landing a fish
  10. No BBQs or fire pits using coals or wood
  11. Bait-boats are not allowed.
  12. Pre baiting is not allowed and boilies must only be fed using stringers or PVA bags.

 

Queries, Penalties & Notes

  1. Our sole aim is to create a pleasant, fair environment for anglers to enjoy our facilities.
  2. Please report any violation of the above rules to the fishery team as soon as possible. We reserve the right to disqualify, evict and ban any individual that we regard to be showing a blatant disregard for our rules.
  3. In a match fishing context, please note that reports of any competitor breaking the rules must be made immediately, while the competition is ongoing
  4. BAL Limited or BTMT Limited Directors do not hold themselves responsible for any personal injury sustained, or loss or damage to personal property in connection with any of the Clubs activities
  5. There are several pest control stations around the lake, their exact location will be marked up on a plan and provided upon request. These stations will contain poisonous material, and it
  6. is the responsibility of all anglers, dog owners and accompanying adults that these are not to be interfered with at any time
  7. The Rules are subject to alteration or addition (with good reason) at the sole discretion of the Committee.
